Catch and Cook Wild SPECKLED TROUT | Fish & Forage FOOD in the FOREST! | Stinging Nettle, Marigold

I FISH and FORAGE for FOOD! Nature provides a complete meal including natural spring fed brook trout, wild leeks, or ramps, marsh marigold, and stinging nettle. I will use primitive stone tools to prepare the fish for eating in the forest.

I cook the fresh wild trout over the fire using only a stick and stuff the cavity with wild edibles including stinging nettle, marsh marigold and wild leeks for a 100% foraged meal.

Stinging nettle is common to creek beds are is marsh marigold. Wild leeks are commonly found in hardwoods, but each wild edible is a spring harvest.

To prepare the trout, I will only remove the insides rather than cut all the way up in order to leave a pocket for nature’s bounty.

The best kind of primitive cooking, is the simplest, just a stick and you can call it primitive technology. The trick to cooking over an open fire is to get a big fire and let it burn down to coals before gently smoking the fish.
