We also drag our pines down for the log cabin sugar shack and plow a trail so that we’re ready for this years sap flow!

Our main goal is to get ready for the spring maple syrup run. We’ve already made some great progress on the log cabin maple sugar shack by plowing it out, and burning off the dead fall. Now we need to get a trail plowed so we can have better access for the sap run and to drag our logs down with the tractor.

Next we’ll focus on getting the evaporator completely build by adding a door, ash tray, and venting completed. The only thing left to build is the tray which will be built by a metal fabricator.

We should be able to get started building on the log cabin in the next episode and be well on our way to boiling down delicious maple syrup.

“Self-Reliance” is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson’s recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
