Snow Bearing Block for Bow Drill?

A buddy of mine introduced me to the idea of using a block of ice as a bearing block for the bow drill and issued an open challenge to try it, but temperatures have been swinging above freezing for almost a week. I couldn’t find any usable ice but there was plenty of snow on the ground, so I decided to see if I could get away with using snow.
