How to Build the Cross Ditch Fire Lay

A demonstration of how to build the Cross Ditch Fire.

A useful and effective all-around fire lay that allows for increased air flow and a hotter fire.

The Cross Ditch Fire is a simple concept using a simple design aims at increasing air flow resulting in a more success and hotter fire. This fire can be started with many of the common fire lays, of which the log cabin, pyramid, and tee-pee fire lays are most used. Though these fires will look the same as they are built, the more efficient air draft created by the crossed ditches will increase the heat output and allow for the fire to be lit more easily. To build this fire lay one must dig two perpendicular trenches at a 3+ inch depth and over 20+ inches in length. Build your fire lay i the center of the crossed ditches and upon the ground level to get started.
