TWH 1.5 Practice Progressions | World History Project | OER Project

Just like learning the harmonica, building historical thinking skills requires practice. With this in mind, we have developed practice progressions—supported by thinking tools—for eight skills: reading, writing, claim testing, causation, comparison, continuity and change over time (CCOT), contextualization, and sourcing. Kim and Colby explain how these progression activities and tools can help you help your students build these skills. In upcoming lessons, we’ll dive into the details of each progression. But first, we’ll give you an idea of how these progressions function in WHP.
