How I flatten my whetstones. Its super important for some knife grinds to have flat stones. Although its not absolutely necessary and shouldn’t be obsessed over, unless you want to.
My method seems to be different then everyone else. I always seem like I’m wasting the sharpening stone by flattening to early. These Norton sharpening stones are expensive. I feel like I get more out of the stone if I work the knife on the high parts. I dunno. Some knife do absolutely require a flat stone such as scandi grinds and chisel grind knives.
This is just how I do it, I’ve tried a lot of different ways, and I find this to be the easiest and cheapest. Your milage may vary.
