Adventuring to the frozen Colchuck Lake

Icicle Road, Leavenworth, Washington, USA – April 2, 2017: Excessive snow slowed my travels the day before so I’m going to once again attempt to make it all the way to Colchuck Lake today. It’s a distance of almost eight miles one way.

I start the hike at 6:45 am and stop only for quick photos and to drink from the streams. I have a goal. “The mountains are calling and I must go.” (Quote by John Muir)

The hike begins with about six inches of snow on the ground and gradually increases to over four feet at times. The views are breathtaking. This is a magnificent place in the beautiful Cascade Mountains of Washington.
