Bow drill for beginners – my first attempt – MAKING FIREOver the years wild camping in the uk and practicing bushcraft, the bow drill is one way of starting a fire that has always appealed to me but I’ve never tried.
Today i put my bushcraft skills to the test and made the bow drill as a total beginner, hence the title bow drill for beginners
Using some dry hazel I cut a spindle around 9inches, an arms length bow ties each end with some 550 paracord. I then used my steel striker as bearing block for the drill.
It took me a around 45 minutes drilling to successfully transfer the ember to the tinder bundle (once the ember went out in the bundle) but eventually I got there.

I now know they on future wild camps or bushcraft days I have another option to start a camp fire!

As always, thanks for watching, stay safe and see you all again soon!
