Bushcraft Overnighter Canoe Trip with Kent Survival. River Wantsum.

In this video, I am down in Kent for a canoe bushcraft overnight trip with Andy from Kent Survival. We set out along the River Wantsum, stopping for lunch on the river bank, before finding a suitable spot for our woodland wildcamp. Shelters set up, firewood collected, water purified and fire lit, we settle down to enjoy the evening and cook a dinner of slow roasted haunch of venison with red wine gravy and fried potatoes………and a few beers!
The morning brings with it the sound of birds singing, a delicious mountain man breakfast and quite a bit of rain.
Thanks Andy for inviting me down and showing me a little corner of your county.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Venison Recipe:

Haunch of venison
500ml red wine
2 tbsp soft brown sugar
2 cloves garlic sliced
6-8 rashers streaky bacon
Oil
Salt and pepper

Using a sharp knife, make deep incisions in the venison and poke garlic slices in. Rub with oil and cook at a high temperature (220 degrees C) for 10-15 mins until it starts to brown. Reduce the heat to low (160 degrees C), pour over the red wine, sprinkle the sugar over and lay the back rashers on top. Cook slowly for about 2 hours. Season and enjoy with cubed fried spuds and beer!
