Caving with Hokolite Head Lamp & Lantern – In Porth Yr Ogof Cave

Hokolite sent me their head lamp and lantern to review so I took them to the darkest place I know – Porth Yr Ogof! We had a good explore of the cave to test them out. They both seem quite good items for camping or general use outdoors (or underground!). I was impressed with the head lamp which was a design I haven’t seen before. The lantern had a couple of niggles about it but overall it was a good and extremely bright light.

Porth Yr Ogof translates as gateway to the cave and is 2,200 metres long in total. It has a very large main opening at about 17 x 5 metres. It is a very popular cave with visitors to the Brecon Beacons area but most of them do not venture very far into it’s tunnels. It can be quite a dangerous cave especially in heavy rainfall when parts of it flood.
