Chicago Botanic Garden: Titan arums in bloom

Titan arum is native to the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. It is a rare event to witness this huge flower in bloom. At the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, IL, two Titan arums (named Sumatra and Java) propagated from the same parent plant, bloomed together on May 31 marking this a double rare event.

With 385 acres of gardens, paved trails, greenhouses and an exhaustive botanical library, there is plenty to satisfy the most demanding plant lover.
