Cops Called on Fishermen (twice!), Epic Clap Back at Unjust 2020 Closures

The city attempted to completely close down a public waterway to fishermen during the fall migratory salmon run in a misguided effort to prevent tourists from coming to their town! The police were called twice because we were fishing in the river, and so was the city by law! Thankfully there are super nice, and very concerned people out there keeping us all all safe on the waters 🙂

Using our knowledge of the law, and of Ontario Crown Land, we circumvent the closures and enjoy one of the largest migratory salmon run fishers in North America. Always be sure of your local laws, as your laws may be different than our laws here in Ontario, Canada. Also, ensure you know your rights, as they can only protect you in these cases. While we might have had our day disrupted, we surely didn’t have it cancelled by people who didn’t know as much as we did.
