Dead Maple Bark Cordage and a Driftwood Bow Drill Set

Trying to see if I could make usable bow drill cordage from dead Big Leaf Maple Bark. My set was made from driftwood, Western Red Cedar for the hearth, and Black Cottonwood for the spindle. They were both way too punky and gave me a lot of problems.
