Folding Canoe Portage Trolley made from Recycled Materials. Strong, Stable and Lightweight.

In this video, I will be making a new canoe trolley to transport my canoe and gear on long portages. I will be using recycled materials for the most part, reusing an old camp bed frame and bicycle trailer with just a few inexpensive bought items.

The problem with most commercially available canoe trolleys, is that they are just too small for a larger boat like a Canadian canoe. The wheels small, they are close together and they are designed to fit underneath the canoe, raising the centre of balance and making them unstable, especially on uneven ground. I wanted a trolley that grips the canoe, cradling it for support, and with larger wheels that are positioned on the side of the canoe, providing more support and stability.

I am really happy with how the trolley came out – it is strong, light, very stable, folds up for storage in the canoe and only cost a few pounds to make. A great improvement on what you can buy commercially.

I hope you enjoy the video.
