We awaken to a super soggy fall day in the far North of Ontario, but make the most of it! We decided to take the two days we had off from the 40 hour trap course to go way up North for less pressured grouse, or partridge wild game. The day starts off pretty badly with rain, but we persevere and manage to catch a few birds throughout the trip to make a delicious camp meal.

We’re cooking over a vintage coleman stove that is most likely over 50 years old! We decided to mostly car-camp so we can focus on chasing these delicious birds! We set up our tents, and make a big camp fire to warm up, but this is mostly about enjoying the North, and spending time outside.

This video is part of a whole series called ‘9 Days in the North’ that I put together while completing the trap course in North Bay with Ryan Tamlin. The course will certify me as a legal trapper and permit me to use all kinds of traps from no on and even run my own trapline! Throughout the series, we will hunt bear, duck, geese, grouse and whatever other critter is unfortunate to cross our path!
