Harvesting and cooking wild soap plant

Wavy-leafed soap plant (Chlorogalum pomeridianum) occurs throughout much of California and southwest Oregon. Here in San Diego it is abundant in the coastal chaparral hills. Soap plant was once an important food source for the native peoples that inhabited these lands and it has many other uses too. In this video I show you how to find and cook soap plant.
