Knife Making | How To Make a Hamon From A Beginners Perspective ⬇️
In this video I explain how to make a hamon on a knife blade. Im a beginner knife maker but I think there will definitely be information about hamon making that will be helpful in this video.

Books have been written on hamon making. This is just a video documenting what I did to achieve a certain hamon look. This is not an end all, be all tutorial. Seems everyone has a different method for producing hamons. Everything from different acids, to steels, to how the hamon is polished, can determine the end result.

If you decide to try this yourself, id advise you to do your own research into what steel is best used for hamon production. Again, it seems everyone has their own opinion as to what steel works best. And also what quenching method works best.

Theres also a lot of different hamon looks. There is no right or wrong way to how a hamon looks, its up to your opinion as to what looks good. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching!
