Making a primitive clay bowl: FAIL!

I had found a source of gray clay near my adobe hut. I had used this clay to make several small clay bowls to hold water and for cooking however this time I make a larger bowl. Everything was going well until I fired it. Since it was larger than the other bowls I had fired the heat from the flames wasn’t intense enough in the center thus causing the bottom of the bowl to not completely harden. I also fired it with the lid on and that was another mistake too because it reduced the amount of heat getting inside the bowl. Although not water tight, the bowl is still useful for transporting dry goods such as clay and sand. Experience is the best teacher.
