Simple Campfire Cooking – Roast Chicken In A Dutch Oven – At the Bushcraft Camp – With TAOutdoors

In this video, I cook up a very basic Roast Chicken, in a Dutch Oven cast iron cooking pot. The recipe is simple…..chicken, vegetables and some seasoning. Spraying the chicken with oil before adding the seasoning helps the seasoning to stick and also helps give get the skin nice and crispy. The seasoning I used was a combination of mixed herbs & hot paprika.

The most important factor to understand when cooking chicken in a dutch oven is to understand how to control the heat. The same thing goes for cooking bread in a dutch oven! It’s all about being gentle with the heat and not having an overly large fire burning away on top of the dutch oven.
