Survival Shelter Re-Build After Destruction (are we bad at bushcraft?)

After a brutal Northern winter, the bushcraft shelter was in bad shape, and needed to be repaired. I strap the gopro and grab the gun and head up to fix it with Jeremy. We cook up fish fillets over the campfire from our trip to the Ganaraska river in Port Hope, and wrap them up with lettuce, tomatoes and cover with ceasar dressing.

The bushcraft shelter was made using basic hand tools like saws, axes, and paracord, nothing super fancy. We use almost all spruce trees, that were too densely packed together to be healthy. Trees in a clump, were thinned out and if there were dead ones, we used those first. This will help open the canopy so that younger trees can grow up, just good bush practice

This video is part of a whole series called ‘9 Days in the North’ that I put together while completing the trap course in North Bay with Ryan Tamlin. The course will certify me as a legal trapper and permit me to use all kinds of traps from no on and even run my own trapline! Throughout the series, we will hunt bear, duck, geese, grouse and whatever other critter is unfortunate to cross our path!
