The Dark Side Of Knife Making

The dark side of knife making. Dealing with down, expensive equipment can take a toll. Especially during busy season and the Christmas rush. I dont fault the companies (yet) as they are working to get things resolved.
To summarize, the Evenheat heat treating oven didn’t work on arrival. It heated up to 1200 degrees and shut off. After playing phone tag with Evenheat they sent a new control panel (standard shipping should have beed 2 day or overnight). That panel didn’t work either. The Evenheat factory is closed till the 2nd of January so hopefully we can get it sorted out then.

The AMK Tactical 2×72 knife grinder came the next day. I had to change out two gfi plugs to get it to run (this is something I knew about). After running it with the contact wheel I noticed alot of vibration. It looks like the contact wheel is out of round. After contacting AMK they are sending out a new contact wheel. At this point I dont know when it will arrive.
Im sure these issues will be sorted out and ill be up and running soon, as I hear good things about both companies customer service.

I wanted to get a video out as its been a couple weeks since I said this stuff was coming. It seems as if it might be another couple weeks till things get sorted out. Hence the video. Thanks for watching!
