The Gower Coast Path – 4 Days, 37 Miles – Wild Camping Wales, UK

We went backpacking around the Gower coast and went wild camping on the beaches for 4 nights in August 2020. The Gower Peninsula in Wales, UK has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and we decided to walk the full length of all of them. Me, Millie and Joel set off on our camping expedition on the Sunday and (spoiler alert) were completed by Thursday dinner time. We carried all our gear and definitely didn’t pack light especially Joel 😂! Backpacking your way around the Welsh coast is certainly hard work but definitely rewarding. We managed it though and found some amazing camping spots along the way. We made sure to always clean up after ourselves and took any extra rubbish left by others around the campsites also. This week definitely gave some twists and turns with one point extreme heat, the next giving massive thunderstorms. We had to hide in a cave for 3 hours away from one being so exposed walking along the sand.

We walked through nearly all of the amazing Gower coastline passing through: Llanrhidian Marsh, Cwm Ivy Marsh, Whiteford Burrows, Whiteford Sands, Broughton Bay, Rhossili Bay, Llangennith, Rhossili Down, past Worm’s Head, Mewslade Bay, Thurba Head, Port Eynon, Slade Bay, Oxwich Head, Oxwich Bay, Tor Bay, Three Cliffs Bay, Pobbles Bay, Southgate, Rotherslade, Pwll Du Bay, Brandy Cove, Caswell Bay Beach, Langland Bay, Limeslade Bay, Bracelet Bay, Mumbles Pier and finally finishing at Verdi’s Ice Cream!
