VIKING SHELTER WITH TA OUTDOORS – BEHIND THE SCENES; ROOF, BARK, FIRE, WOODLAND TABLE, AMBER Pt.4

In this episode, we continue the long task of peeling cedar bark for the roof. We also source 20 lengths of dead wood to act as the rafters for the bark to be pinned to. The bottom of these lengths were burnt to preserve and deter moisture from soaking up into them, something that has been done throughout history. Graeme does a great job down by the lake, peeling the ‘hard to peel’ fresh back from the newly cut down trees. Mike climbs the ladder and begins securing the rafters to the ridge pole. BTW…peeling bark is incredibly tedious but has to be done.

Hope you are all enjoying this project……we are loving it!
